| 1. ANY BLUEGRASS BAND wishing to enter
Graves Mountain "Battle in the Blue Ridge" band contest may do so with
the exception of national working bands signed with a major label or
established on the bluegrass circuit. |
| 2. LIMIT OF 18 BANDS for this contest.
Bands will be entered upon receipt of completed registration form and
$125 entry fee. The entry fee is non-refundable.
Once 18 Bands have been entered, the contest registration will be
closed. |
| 3. A DRAWING WILL BE HELD to determine the day
and the time of performance for each band. The days are Saturday
and Sunday, April 23, 24, 2005. Times each day are 10:00 A.M. to
3:30 P.M. Once drawing is held, band leaders will be notified. |
| 4. WINNERS WILL BE ANNOUNCED SUNDAY
following the close of competition. The band receiving the highest
point total from the judges will be declared the winner, followed by the
next highest, etc. Winners do not have to be present to win. |
| 5. A PANEL OF QUALIFIED JUDGES will
determine the winners based upon the awarding of points (1 to 50) in a
variety of categories such as instrumentation, vocals, arrangements,
showmanship, overall performance, etc. |
| 6. A HOUSE SOUND SYSTEM will be provided for use
by all participating bands. Only acoustical string instruments
will be permitted, and there will be no direct amplification of
instruments other than a bass amp. Sound system adjustments will
be, and remain, at the same settings for each band with the exception of
feedback. |
| 7. NO INDIVIDUAL shall be a member
of more than one of the competing bands. |
| 8. ANY BAND ENTERING THE CONTEST
must be an organized group, having performed at previous events and
currently playing together. |
| 9. AFTER BAND REGISTRATION and entry fee
have been received, Graves Mountain must be notified in advance of any
band personnel changes. |
